How did you get into the business: I always loved construction and the transformative power of good design. 20 years ago, I was working in the technology field as a writer, and I acted as the general contractor on a renovation at my house. I decided then to switch careers. I started out working for a small builder as a project manager. Not long after that, I started my own small general contracting firm, later moved to S+H as a project manager, and here I am.
S+H’s most noteworthy product/service: Top-quality construction, both in craftsmanship and building science; combined with profession job-management.
Keys to Success: Well, I never consider us to be a “success,” because there’s no finish line! But we have a positive work environment, work hard, and we’re always trying to get better.
If you had to choose another profession, what would it be: I’ve already had another profession and I like this one the best!
Are you involved in any other organizations besides BRAGB: NARI, Construction Financial Management Association.
What’s something most people don’t know about you: I play the stand-up bass – or I used to before I took over a construction company!
Hobbies: Running masters track and field, mountain biking
Favorite TV show currently on the air: Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist
Favorite sports team: the Patriots
Favorite novel: It’s a memoir but, recently, Acid for the Children by Flea
Favorite film: Recently, Little Women, filmed in historic buildings all around New England.
